Oh I thought it was Megara.
Oooh. Very nice.
I'm a huge fan of flat design illustrations! I think you did a really great on the form of the character and the colours!
How very charming.
Definitely gonna use these soon. Thanks for the awesome flats
Immediately crossed my eyes and it became holographic.
Nice one Stacy, great flats and inks, I'm putting this in my to do list
wow that is actually really helpful
That was a great inking job, I think some of it is starting to click with me now. (Not that I can do it, but I'm starting to notice things that I appreciate.)
I think there was supposed to be more armor over her abdomen? It's flesh colored here, it would make more sense if it was fabric or leather of some sort, instead of being empty? But looking at the pencils it's not quite clear what RDOWN intended.
Then while I was looking in his profile, I saw that RDOWN applied some color to it: rdown.deviantart.com/art/Blade… And that doesn't seem to make any sense either, as fabric doesn't really sit like that, does it?
Well, it's impractical sexy fantasy armor at it's best though. OTH, Conan wears an impractical Loin Cloth most of the time, so this isn't any worse than that. Well, impractical for fighting. It might be practical for some of Conan's other pastimes.
Looking at RDOWNs quick colors over his pencils illustrates how good your inking was in cleaning up the pencils.
I really like your choices on her skin coloring and hair, over the yet-another-blond. Not that I have anything against blondes, it's just that dime-a-dozen. This version is exotic and deadly.
I love these color choices, with the green for the symbols, and the colors of her armor. It's all nicely matched, and fits with her skin tone and hair color. There is really a different feel between the two colored pieces, and that helps illustrate how much that affects the art.
Hmm.. maybe I'd make the sigils on her sword some bright color. Not sure why you'd do that to a blade unless it were magic, and in which case it probably glows and is some bright color. Though as a warrior, I think that would be the last thing that you'd want. HEY COME GET MY MAGIC SWORD. And forget trying to run away in the dark. So probably better this way.
Sorry, this is how my brain works. It's in the back of my head doing this all the time. Sometimes I wish it'd just shut up. Sometimes I'm vastly entertained by it. Other times it's very helpful. More than few times, I wish it'd just stop so I can go to sleep.
Thank you for the critique. This isn't a colored piece though, it's only flats for others to color and they can choose their own colors on the piece. Flats are meant to be changed and the colorists on the image usually changes them to suit their own color choices before painting or rendering the image. I'm too busy working on commissions right now to color her, but thought I'd share the flats for it in case anyone else wants to color her who has time to color her.
I didn't even think of it as a critique, just sorta came out. Trying to shut off my brain so I can go to sleep. (Not working.)
But I DO like the color choices that you made.
And Now I get how the flats work even more. And why you needed those areas to be color separated to make it easier for the colorist to adjust them, and that matters more than the color you set them to here. I like to say "I have obtained a new level of ignorance." (Always something else left to learn)
hahah You're a night owl like me. Well you're welcome to critique my work any time. I love hearing your insights. You gave me things to thing about for this piece when I finally get a bit more caught up on commissions and get time to color it. heheh
I finally got most of the "rush commissions" done so I should be able to start on the next round of yours. Thank you for being patient with me! Things are really happening right now and I never expected to get so busy, I appreciate you being so patient!
I think my new job my curb my night owl ways. (it's awesome in all the other ways though.) *sigh* JUST NOT NATURAL TO SLEEP AT NIGHT.
You told me up front that it would be a bit, and that some of the work in your queue was pretty nifty and might need some extra care and take longer. So I don't know how I could get upset over the timing when you TOLD me it would be a bit before you could even get to them!
I'm SUPER HAPPY that you are so busy. It means that people are recognizing your skills. Kudos for your dedication to your craft, and the work you've put in to get recognized! I'd love to get my stuff back instantly, but this is the real world. And you are a real person. And that means I am overjoyed that you are doing well.
In my perfect fantasy world, ALL the artists I've used would get tons of work. But somehow magically always have a spot ready for me when I want it. But since it's reality, I'll take them having all the work they want because they are all awesome and deserve it.
And this will work out well in my cunning plan, which I didn't even know I had at the time, to publish something in my gallery every other day this month. I have at least the next week already covered, and *should* have 1-2 things come in during that time (I'm patient with everyone, as one should be, so I'm not quite sure when some of it will hit). So, if I get some stuff after a week or so, it'll land in plenty of time for my plan. If you'd gotten it to me super-quick, I'd already have posted it, and be scrambling to fill this month. I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER.
And even so, still not in a rush. If any really important clients need work done, I'd still expect to be bumped. I'd be miffed if you didn't.
